As the city of White Hall grows, the list of things to do and see grows with it. Residents of the community will attest that there's nothing quite like attending the Founder's Day Festival or strolling through City Park at Christmas time. Spending a Saturday watching the Pee Wee Football League or a few weeknights at the baseball and softball fields is a common pastime. The newly built Crenshaw Springs Water Park is definitely a crowd favorite with its fast water slides, rock climbing wall, and splash zone for the kids. White Hall is full of history and we want to share it with the community.

Hello! Believe it or not White Hall Founder's Day Fall Festival is right around the corner. Our 2016 annual event is scheduled for Friday October 21st – Saturday October 22nd. Once again there will be events and activities that are sure to bring fun and enjoyment to our White Hall and local families.

Friday vendors will be set up in the White Hall Park and that evening the White Hall Chamber will host the 3rd Glow Walk for Families and Movie Night. On Saturday morning we kick off Founders Day with the annual breakfast, parade and then the festivities on the Amphitheatre begin. We would love to have performances on the stage from the White Hall School District, local Churches, dance and tumbling businesses, or those who would like to share their talent with the families in our community. Entertainment can be singing, dancing, cheerleading, tumbling, band performances, magic acts or just something that families will enjoy watching or joining in. We also hope to add in various “contests” on the stage this year to help get the crowd involved.

Do You Know How

Crenshaw Springs water park

GOt its Name?

“Crenshaw” was given to the natural spring-fed creek in what is now

White Hall, as it was believed the land through which the creek flowed had

once been owned by a family named Crenshaw. In the 1800s, people

traveling by horse and wagon from Little Rock to Pine Bluff would stop

at Crenshaw springs to enjoy the clear water. Whether swimming,

washing clothes, or watering their horses, travelers often returned

to the area because they knew “good water” flowed there.

Attracted to the clean water, travelers began settling around the creek.

Eventually, the settlers built a small, one-room structure for church

services and group meetings at the top of the hill next to the spring.

As the building's clapboards had been painted with whitewash, everyone

in the area referred to it as the “white hall” and it became the most prominent

landmark. In 1964, the community officially became a city, and the town was

named the City of White Hall in honor of its history.

As the water park was being planned, officials wanted to honor the heritage of the

White Hall community and settled on Crenshaw Springs Water Park, hoping that the

“good water” would continue to bring new travelers to the area for recreational enjoyment.
